Recommended Gadgets
Being the computer geek that I am, clients often ask me to recommend my favorite gadgets. I’ve assembled some of these recommendations here…
1. Favorite wireless router. I’ve always liked Linksys as a brand, but when it comes to wireless routers, I really like the D-Link Extreme and Apple’s Airport Extreme. You may think you don’t need “that much range” but range is a bit of a misnomer. Especially if you live in an urban area surrounded by tall buildings, or in an apartment building with thick concrete walls, or just in an area with a lot of interference… you need the extra signal boost that these routers give you. Unlike a cabled connection, a wireless router doesn’t always maintain optimum signal strength. Even fluorescent light bulbs can affect your signal strength! If you find that your wireless router is not giving you good signal strength, you might consider a switch to a premium WiFi router like the D-Link Extreme or Apple Airport Extreme.
